The Leopard

.... as a Leopard by the way will I observe them. - Hosea 13:7

The name Leopard was originally given to the Cheetah - then called the hunting Leopard - (It was once thought that the Cheetah was a cross between a Lion and a Leopard).

The Leopard is found throughout Sub-Saharan Africa and most of Asia.

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case for Israel. The last known leopards in Israel, live in the En Gedi area, but are elderly and incapable of regaining viable numbers. The Israeli leopard suffered greatly during the time of the Ottoman period due to tremendous habitat destruction and hunting.
